There’s an ongoing issue with clinical waste and we have a solution

The problems with clinical waste

Every year, 153,000 tonnes of clinical waste is produced across acute and maternity NHS beds, costing £373million to transport and process this waste and generating over 100,000 tonnes of CO2 - the same amount of carbon as over 800,000 space shuttles!

With the ongoing climate crisis, many organisations are looking for ways to be more sustainable. Some are reducing their carbon footprint by creating reusable products, and others are using recycled materials for theirs. Whilst these solutions are great for some companies, there are the worries of hygiene and practicality that the NHS has to deal with.

Working with the NHS to turn your clinical waste problem into a solution!

Although this is a worry for the environment, medical supplies and equipment are essential to those in need. Whilst cutting down on the amount of medical supplies may not be an option, recycling medical waste or looking at new technologies to deal with it may offer a long-term solution.

Here at Curo, we’ve created an end-to-end sustainable solution to clinical waste that can save the NHS money and reduce their carbon emissions. Our aim is to reduce carbon emissions by a staggering 100%. Our on-site solution processes clinical waste directly inside the hospital estate, keeping waste out of landfill and ultimately reducing the effects on the environment.
